Galleon is a comic that takes place on an asteroid world, rescuing animal people called Mortals from a great catastrophe. The style and themes are a love letter to the delightfully chaotic funny animal cartoons of the early 90s-20s, mixed with the more reflective tone of pulp fiction fantasy novels. Imagine a world where Tailspin, The Secret of NIMH, and Sherlock Hound are allowed the same breadth of human experience seen in the Discworld or Malazan Book of the Fallen series. These disparate tones that millennial audiences grew up with, finally brought together.
This website hosts a collection of comics and supplemental media focused on the mysteries of galleon. We join a selection of protagonists across the planet's timeline escaping its originally doomed fate in search of new shores. We join the five distinct variations of Mortals, learning about their collective past and finding their individual place amongst the magical wreckage and evolving technologies of their worlds.
About The Creators
Galleon is a creative project of high school friends brought to life over a span of several decades. The main driving force is Nani Mahal and Auberon Thorn, better known online by their character names Nai and Coral. They have worked with several of their long term friends to bring this project off their table to share with like minds and hearts.
Nai is a soft-hearted baby girl who hates bad things and loves good things. She will cry if you look at her for too long, and genuinely can't handle conflict. Unfortunately for her, she's just one voice inside the mind of Nani Mahal, who looks like a terrifying Goliath.
Corillion aka Coral equally is a lover-boy cat driven by Auberon Thorn. Someone whose friends consistently get asked by new people who meet him, "does he hate me? Is he like... an axe murderer?" Nothing so interesting, in fact its mostly memes and indecision in that brain, I apologise.
Currently based in New Zealand, their passion for TTRPGs and creative projects have held their group together since 2004 when the two foolishly tried dating. Mind you, it did last 17 years and produce the cutest nerdiest child.
